5 Extenstions

black and white – After the princess woke after her crash she wandered around the Emperor’s palace. Eventually she stumbled upon his room, and found him sitting gazing out to his patio. He seemed rather lonely she she sat down across from him.

Expressionism – After a period of silence the Princess struck up a conversation with the Emperor. They told each other about their homes and customs, the found themselves immersed in a swirling dream, pondering about the things they’d heard.

Pop Art – After much coaxing she convinced the Emperor to show her around. While she loved everything she came across, he seemed rather uninterested. He only sighed.

Cubism – They came to a room of mirrors, the Princess went on and on with her questions. The Emperor however only became more agitated. As the questions continued his anger swelled and he ended up smashing one of the mirrors. “I don’t care about this place!” The Emperor yelled. Realizing what he’d done, he apologized to her and tried to leave.

Art Neavou – Finally seeing that being cooped up was the cause of his misery she invited him to a walk outside, something he didn’t have the pleasure of doing very often. She told him more of her home, and this time he could almost see it, beyond the trees, he could see the golden fields. He thought he could almost touch it. It was not like the swirling dream of before, this was much more vivid. And for the first time in perhaps a long while he smiled…even if it was only a small one.

Extension story description

The story for the Panels

The words for my Panels are East and West, so these extensions focus on the Princess’s time with the Emperor. The Princess and the Emperor themselves represent west and east respectively, as the princess comes from the west and travels east. The extensions take place between panels 6 and 7 of the original panel project. The extensions follow the Princess and the Emperor through their conversations as the explore the palace. The extensions start with the them in the Emperor’s room and ends outside where panel 7 starts.

Panel one is where the conversation starts, when the princess finds the Emperor in his room looking outside. Sensing that he may have the same wish to get out she invites him for a walk. Panel two details the contents of their discussion, such as native clothing, and customs. Panel three is them exploring the palace, panel four is them continuing through the palace. Finally panel 5 they are outside, this is were the 7th panel would have picked up in the original story.

The second is the expressionist panel. This panel consists of what they are taking about such the kinds of garments they wear ect. I wanted to go for a more dream like quality. They talk from sun up till sun down.panel012 this is in progress. It is being done in ink, marker, and colored pencil.

Third is pop art, the next day she and the emperor wander around the palace and in one room there are a bunch of odd statues. pop sketch copy

the last one will the the metallic which will be done with metallic paints. neavou copy

My words are East and West therefore my extensions will be built off Panel # 7 from the previous project. This is the panel where the princess (who comes fromt he west) spends some time with the Emperor of the eastern kingdom. The extensions will elaborate more on the time they spent together, and what happened during that time.

The Travels of a Princess

* Zip-plane – is a made up flying machine for this story.

There once was a princess you wished to travel the world. She had found an old map and she gazed at it everyday. She longed to know the world outside of the castle and dreamed of the many adventures she’d have. One day she shared her wish with her parents but her mother did not take to kindly to the idea and took her map away. “Focus on being a princess” she said.

The princess cried for hours, until her father entered with the map in hand. He returned it to her and then told her he had a surprise. He lead her down to the old storage room and there he had squirreled away something. A zip-plane! The princess was ecstatic! Her father promised her that when she was old enough she could leave and go on a journey, and so ten years passed and the day finally came.

She began heading east, and found herself caught in some mountains by the snow. When it finally cleared a few days later she left and continued on. Eventually she hit a desert and to her amazement there was an ancient city, long abandoned. She snooped around a bit, until she saw IT. A great behemoth, it’s stony face rise above the sands.

After leaving she continued east as she crossed the sea however, a great storm arose and her wing was struck with lightning. She tried her best to get the damaged machine under control but it was not use! Soon a city peeked through the hills, and before anyone had realized what had happened she had crashed right into the Emperor’s palace.

To her surprise, an relief he wasn’t very upset, and agreed to let her stay until her zip-plane was fixed. Now the emperor reminded the princess a lot of herself when she was young, having never left the palace. So she led him outside for a walk there she told him that he should take at least one journey. “They’re good for the soul,” she said.

Eventually her plane was repaired and she flew back west, a flock of birds following all the way.

Panel story

*Note before reading: A “zip-plane” is a fictional flying machine created for this story. It is a cross between a motorcycle and a plane.

Travels of a Princess

In a kingdom far to the west there lived a little princess. Digging through her the grandfather’s belongings she came across an old map. From that day forward she became entranced with the dream of traveling. One day she told her mother and father about her dream. However, her mother informed her that her duties as a princess would never allow for such an venture. Then she took the map from her daughter and tore it two.

The little princess was greatly distraught and shut herself away in her room. Later that night, her father came in with cake and a gift. Her eyes lit up when she saw the map, taped back together, but her father had yet one more surprise for her. He led her down to the old storage in the castle. They walked until he stopped at an odd shape under a sheet. As he pulled the sheet away the princess leapt for joy, and old *zip-plane lay beneath.

She and her father worked in secret repairing and fixing up the old zip plane and when it done they hid it away. For the next few years the princess waited eagerly for the day she would be able to fly her zip-plane. At last the day came, and she bid her father farewell, reminding him to pass the message on to her mother, and set out for the world on her zip-plane. She would cross deserts, plains, oceans and rivers. From west to east, she meet many people, some who would become lasting friends. When her journey was over she flew with the birds all the way home.
